The Pop And Loft

To find Pop all the stars have to align and everything must be as one in the universe. When I say pop, what I am referring to is the sound made as your thumb is pulled from a hole, a hole so perfect that it creates just the right amount of suction to make a popping sound.

My friend Fagin has a pop, or should I say the perfect hole. It’s not too tight or too loose so when he releases there is a pop. That in itself is amazing enough, but he also has loft. A loft is the certain degree of arc and distance that your ball or balls travel when you release before hitting the floor. When I release there is no pop or loft.

Like most my balls simply touch the floor in silence. But Fagin announces himself to the room when he releases. You hear the pop and then his ball smacks the floor with a boom. It’s indescribable to imagine Sure other people can toss or even throw their balls when they release but it’s not the same. It’s not a natural loft. You can’t force the pop and loft, you either have it or you don’t. People search for years for the perfect hole, never to find it.

The loft however, cannot be found it is something you are simply born with. Is it genetics, no one knows. If you have both, however, you are one of the lucky few. Cherish your gift and relize you need nothing more in the world, for that I tip my hat to Fagan.
